ATTENTION PLEASE!

Attention Please ! Is the next drama/live action I shall review, Attention Please, is a live action of the manga written by Chieko Hosokawa and had two adaptations, one in 1970 and the one I shall talk about in 2006. Both featured the main character names Yoko Misaki. In the 2006 version Yoko was played by Aya Ueto, in the drama Aya’s character Yoko plays a rowdy punk girl who has a fascination with uniforms, she falls in love the flight attendant uniform and from a young age made it her dream to become a flight attendant on Japan Airline. The drama is about Yoko’s progression from her punk, crazy life to a mature woman who takes the lives of airline passengers in her hands daily. A majority of the series we see the stress and difficult training flight attendants go through.  Now it isn’t all about the training, there are the basic drama aspects, romance, rivalry, and friendships formed.
Yoko falls in love with one of the flight engineers Shota Nakahara who is played by Ryo Nishikido. Both of them going through their trainings, at first he was appealed and fascinated by Yoko, but by the end it was all love. She forms a bitter relationship off the bat with her instructor Tamaki Mikami played by Maya Miki, must not be a good first impression to show up late in combat boots and the whole shebang. In the end though she becomes on of the best students. To see the whole evalution and metmophsis of Yoko watch Attention Please online on Veoh TV. I, Rogue, give it a 4.5 star rating, awesome series but  I wish it didn’t end the way it did exactly, wish it had a little more fluffy. Attention Please also features 2 specials, (mini movies in a sense) one to Hawaii and the other too Sydney. These are obviously based after she becomes a flight attendant.

Ponyo

For this week I shall review the anime film Ponyo on the Cliff. You can find this on Animecrazy.net but fair warning, the viewing mirrors are bad, mega video you have a timed viewing limit and it isn’t the greatest of qualities, veoh you need to download and even then it is testy….. and the Flv is a bootleg but the picture is better than the others, just the sound is little distant and a person walks in front of the screen in the 4th part. This aside the movie was short and cute. Ponyo is by Hayao Miyazaki, the creator of Spirited away and Howl’s Moving Castle, both showed multiple times on cartoon network through the years, he also creates a lot of other famous titles, but this is about Ponyo not Hayao.
Ponyo is about a “gold fish” the freakiest gold fish I have ever seen, who gets a taste of human blood, this human is Sosuke. Sosuke finds a gold fish washed up on shore and names her Ponyo, he declares she is magical when his cut disappeared after she licked it. Before Ponyo gets to Sosuke though she is seen sneaking out of her home leaving behind her many (probably a good 100) siblings, I assume sisters since they all looked the same and had high pitch voices but since they have a minor part in the movie it is never revealed so it is not important. So Ponyo escapes her home and travels toward mainland where she is almost swept up into a net that is collecting trash off the bottom of the ocean. Least this movie was realistic with the filth in the ocean unlike most movies that make it all clean and pretty. Ponyo escapes the net and gets stuck in a bottle or jar by the looks of it, and this is when she washes ashore near Sosuke’s home on the cliff, he is going down to play in the water when he sees something in a bottle or jar. He grabs the jar and sees it is a gold fish and tries to get her out, he ends up taking a rock and breaking the glass without hurting ponyo, who while in his hands tastes his blood, this begins a curse to the world, she becomes a mermaid, which apparently isn’t allowed she cannot be part human with the powers she possesses.
Now I do not want to give too much away you will have to watch and see what peril they face and how they get through it all to their happy ending. The movie is cute and mainly for kids but if you have nothing to do and want to watch a little movie then Ponyo is recommended. I give it 4 out a 5 stars since it was a bit fast and didn’t explain much but the bad subs and bootleg quality of the movie maybe to blame but does not affect my rating at all.
