Digimon

Today we shall cover Digimon season 1and 2. There use to be a lot of confusion about which season was which, who was in which one. Season 1 covers the original Digidestined and their digimon. Digidesitned are a select few of chosen child who would enter the digital world to help repair it and save it from dark forces. The main digidestined are, Taichi (Tai), Yamato (Matt) Joe, Takeru (TK), Sora, Koushiro (Izzy), and Mimi. They travel with their digimon, or digital monsters fighting again evil digimon who wish to take over the digital world and even enter the ‘real’ world and take it over as well. Taichi Kamiya is the self appointed leader of the group with his partner Agumon they work hard to keep the group in line and do everything they can to win, though his cocky and headstrong personality tends to get the best of him leading to many fights with the other digidestined. Taichi’s main rival is Yamato Ishida who is also cocky and tries to be the leader of the group as well to protect his younger brother Takeru Takaishi who due to their parent’s divorce he does not get to see very often. Yamato’s Digimon partner is Gabumon who is always working to keep Yamato under control. Takeru is the youngest of the 1^st season digidestined( at first) a bit of a cry baby but shows he is mature and strong throughout the series many times, his digimon partner Patamon is very important to him, he considered him is true and first best friend, always shy and frightened by other people, he grows to be close to all the digidestined. More on him a little later. Next is Sora Takenouchi who is like the back up leader then Taichi and Yamato are at each other’s throats, she is strong girl kind of like the mother of the group at times, with her digimon Piyomon. Then the other girl, Mimi Tachikawa, she is a bit of an air head in the start but she matures greatly later in the series, they all do really but all on different levels. Some who do not mature as much as the others are Joe Kido the doctor in training (even though they are still in elementary) is always worrying about the safety of the group, hates when everyone fights and tries to be the peace keeper. His digimon is Gomamon. Last but not least, for now, is Koushiro Izumi with his digimon Tentomon. Koushiro is the genius of the group, always cracking codes, plotting route on his laptop, always thinking of a plan before acting. Each Digidestine has their own unique Crest, which represent’s their personalities, chart of chests at bottom.

The children in season one enter the digital world through an unseen portal at their summer camp which experiences snow, an odd happening clearly, at first they are lost and confused, who wouldn’t be when you fly through the sky basically and land in a weird land where giant bugs, dinosaurs, and giant teddy bears walk around and little tiny fuzz balls or other little creatures come running at you claiming to have been waiting all their lives for you. I would love a digimon now, but if that happened to me I would be a bit weirded out.  

In season 1 2nd half the final ‘original’ digidestined joins. Now at first they didn’t know who it was, they were told they had to search for the final child. Little did they know (spoiler alert) that the final child was Taichi’s little sister who was suppose to go to camp with them but grew sick and couldn’t go, she was always a sickly girl we later learn, and even in season 2when she is seen you can see that she is a little ill still. Taichi’s sister’s name is  Hikari Kamiya or Kari in the English dub. She and her once villain turned good but actually just misguided by a villain digimon partner is Tailmon or Gatomon in the English dub. The two of them show much maturity and bravery in the start forming a close bond almost initially. Hikari is the youngest of the original Digidestined, the same age as Takeru but a little younger, this age similarity forms a great friendship and as many fanfic shippers claim a relationship later on. I agree with them, TK and Hikari are cute together, I wish they did get together in the show.  I wont give away the details of each season but both are amazing, and these characters do not leave, in the next season everyone is older, originally in elementary now the older kids are in high school ( do remember the schooling system there is different then here) it would be middle school here. TK and Hikari are the only two left in elementary. This is where they meet the ‘new’ digidestined. Daisuke (Davis) Motomiya, Miyako (Yolei) Inoue, and Iori (Cody) Hida, another comes later In the season. Daisuke is paired with Veemon, Miyako with Hawkmon, and Iori with Armadillomon. Daisuke takes the place of Taichi and Yamato since the older digidestine cannot digivolve at the moment due to the new enemy’s take over blocking evolution. Miyako is a mix of Mimi and Sora, and Iori is a mix of Joe and Koushiro Iori is now the youngest digidestine. At first only the three new children can digivolve with a new form of evolution called metal digivolution. Later on though Hikari and Takeru join in again gaining the power back with their own eggs.

Later in the series (another spoiler) the first enemy of the^2nd season Ken Ichijouji turns over a new leaf when his digimon Wormmon is killed and reborn. He joins in and later on revealed to marry Inoue ;].
